A long drive

Good evening visitors!

I have now made it back from Brands Hatch after a very long drive.

Due to the vulcanic activities at Iceland our flight like many others where cancelled. We found out about this thursday morning having to be at the Brands Hatch circuit in England friday morning. We set out from Denmark about 10 am and raced through Germany, Holland, Belgium and France to arrive just in time for the last ferry from Calais to Dover. We where all very tired when we finally made it to the Hotel in Kent at about 2 am local time.

After about four hours of sleep it was time to get to the track. In the car I quickly forgot about being tired, but at the end of the day I was really looking forward to getting to bed!

Saturday was very nice with a strong qualifying and very nice racing weather. It was nice to be at the right end of the field with my best qualifiing position yet. Unfortunately I was unable to hold on to my starting position as fourth in the first race Sunday. The start is very tricky at Brands Hatch because it is down hill meaning that the car will roll forward when you release the brake. I tried to make the car stand still by applying steering lock but it was not enough. As the car must be standing still until the red lights go off I had no alternative than to to brake the car or risk getting a penalty for jumping the start. This gave me a really bad start which ment I dropped down two places. Some time into the race i spun under braking into Clearways possibly because of to much brake pressure at the back. Anyway it was really disapointing with such a good starting possition.

The second race went much better with a good start and race but I did strugle to with the pace not being as high as it should. We now have some racing experience to work with and hopefully we will make improvements to come back with a strong result at Silverstone in three weeks.

After the race we decided to stay in England for the night and drive back monday morning. Another 15 hour drive and we where back home in Denmark. At least I got to try the Autobahn which I enjoyed, it really is nice just to be allowed to go as fast as you want.. at least some places. Of cause I had to try weather the car would do 230 as it said in the book.. and sure enough, it will!
