Soon I’m driving the Formula Renault BARC race at Rockingham which I’m very much looking forward too! Rockingham is different to most other British circuits because it’s build as an oval for the American series Indy Car and Nascar in an attempt to bring the sport to Europe. The circuit used by the Formula Renault championship is of cause not just an oval. The pits is the same though and we do use about a third of the oval. The rest of the track is inside the oval and contains many tricky corners which is a real challenge for me as I’ve done just one test on the circuit. My test there went well though and with new tires and a lap free of trafic and mistakes the data showed I could be right at the front in the dry. I didn’t get to try the circuit in wet conditions in which I have been struggeling this year. My first wet session on each circuit always seems to be in qualifying like on Snetterton and Silverstone. I will do all the preparations possible for me to be quick in the wet as well though, but nothing beats testing and this I can’t afford.

Also I’m moving back to Denmark after the race. I have been working for Antel the past three months. I have learned a lot about the car and being on the other side of the pitwall, but now I want to focus more on my driving and fitness. I think it was very good experience for me as I got to know the team and improve my English speaking and communication with the team in general. It has also given me a good repect and appreciation of the whole team, they all work really hard and many late nights to get our cars ready to race.

I have enjoyed my three years at the motorsports college and the last months here with Alternative Engineering but now I’m looking forward to joining up with Antel Motorsport. The last race I drove was with Antel Motorsport and I’m now moving over to work for the team and of cause continue as an Antel driver. I hope this new adventure in England will bring me some good opportunities and experiences. It is all quite new and very exciting!

Good evening visitors!

I have now made it back from Brands Hatch after a very long drive.

Due to the vulcanic activities at Iceland our flight like many others where cancelled. We found out about this thursday morning having to be at the Brands Hatch circuit in England friday morning. We set out from Denmark about 10 am and raced through Germany, Holland, Belgium and France to arrive just in time for the last ferry from Calais to Dover. We where all very tired when we finally made it to the Hotel in Kent at about 2 am local time.

After about four hours of sleep it was time to get to the track. In the car I quickly forgot about being tired, but at the end of the day I was really looking forward to getting to bed!

Saturday was very nice with a strong qualifying and very nice racing weather. It was nice to be at the right end of the field with my best qualifiing position yet. Unfortunately I was unable to hold on to my starting position as fourth in the first race Sunday. The start is very tricky at Brands Hatch because it is down hill meaning that the car will roll forward when you release the brake. I tried to make the car stand still by applying steering lock but it was not enough. As the car must be standing still until the red lights go off I had no alternative than to to brake the car or risk getting a penalty for jumping the start. This gave me a really bad start which ment I dropped down two places. Some time into the race i spun under braking into Clearways possibly because of to much brake pressure at the back. Anyway it was really disapointing with such a good starting possition.

The second race went much better with a good start and race but I did strugle to with the pace not being as high as it should. We now have some racing experience to work with and hopefully we will make improvements to come back with a strong result at Silverstone in three weeks.

After the race we decided to stay in England for the night and drive back monday morning. Another 15 hour drive and we where back home in Denmark. At least I got to try the Autobahn which I enjoyed, it really is nice just to be allowed to go as fast as you want.. at least some places. Of cause I had to try weather the car would do 230 as it said in the book.. and sure enough, it will!

Good afternoon visitors!

It’s time for my first blog post. I hope you all like my new website. I would just like to thank those helping me to get it up and running!

It’s very soon time for my first race this year and I’m very excited about it, it seems I’ve finally got a competitive car to race in! The last test we did was an official Formula Renault BARC test at Silverstone and everybody had to carry a transponder. This test showed that we were not far off the very top, although our very limited budget and late start this year has only allowed us to do three tests and I had never been to the track before! The team has really done a superb job at getting the car ready and fast. I enjoyed driving the car around this famous track, it just felt great. It’s a very fast track with no boring places. It’s definably one of the best tracks, and cars, I’ve ever driven!

The first race is at Brands Hatch where I did a race in the series last summer. It should be a good result this weekend as I’ve been to the track once before. Although I’m a bit worried about the weather forecast as it proposes it can be a wet race on the Sunday with the Friday and Saturday dry. I know I can be fast in the wet but it’s worrying because we haven’t really done any wet testing. So I would like it to rain at the Friday test as well or not at all. But we will just have to wait and see.

Anyway I’m really looking forward to throwing the car into Paddock Hill Bend again, its just such a great corner, see picture!

That’s all for today, I hope you will follow my race and wish me luck!
